“I rearrange the soft outlines of flowers with straight cuts to bring movement to still life. Playing with natural forms, hard lines and geometric patterns, my artworks combine my emotional experience with the rhythm and feeling of music to create a visual dance.”
Stephanie Wild is a Norwich based artist who works primarily with hand cut collage techniques. Since receiving her BA in Fine Art: Printmaking and Photomedia in 2005 from Norwich University of the Arts, Wild has participated in a variety of solo, duo and group shows, both locally and internationally. Her work is held in private collections in the UK and abroad.
Wild creates distinctive collages in which flowers and light are two of the common recurring themes. Much of her work is imbued with a strong sense of chiaroscuro that brings to mind classic cinema and photography of the early twentieth century, but with a vibrant sense of colour and delicate, dreamlike compositions that instil a sense of calm reflection. Inspired by her love of nature, music and dance, these pieces could be said to explore our emotional responses to the beauty of sensory experience.
